I started my creative journey about 10 years ago at the very bottom as a warehouse assistant at a signage company in Durban. During my time there I applied myself to gaining as much knowledge as possible and was soon offered the opportunity to be trained as a junior graphics designer, eventually I worked my way up to becoming the manager and lead designer of that company and was in charge of running the majority of the day to day activities.
Soon however signage wasn’t enough. I needed to know more about the marketing industry as a whole, which lead to me becoming an advertorial designer for another marketing and branding firm where I designed magazine adverts for local and international clients which helped me learn about the more corporate side of the marketing industry as well as learning quite a bit about promotional marketing. Around that time I decided to get involved in web design as well as getting some qualifications behind my name.
Once I had finished my courses I decided to move back to Johannesburg and went to work for a group of companies as their in house graphics designer and web developer, this position soon shifted to marketing manager as I took over all aspects of the groups marketing and advertising campaigns including all web marketing, social media, print and promotional marketing. I eventually ventured out on my own and I had been working freelance for about 6 years before joining Watts Involved where I still enjoy learning new aspects of the industry I love.
